This week is « La rentrée » or Back to School week…back to early morning school bus runs for us. The French countryside around here is very well served for school buses and school hours fit in with work hours here. At senior school, the 8am starts and 4:45 finishes were a bit of a shocker at first, but it’s the norm for children here and I’m amazed how organised our daughters have become. Of course, you get longer holidays – 2 weeks at half term and 2 months in the summer!
The end of the summer period also means a lot of houses coming onto the market as owners adapt to new rhythms, children going further afield to school or fleeing the nest, or new starts getting put into action. We have lots of appointments for photographing new properties over the next few weeks, a great time to get them as it’s still in the sunny 30s this September.
The last of the tourists and visitors are here, but it’s nice to settle back into our normal social life outside the summer months, where we see friends who have been busy with their gite businesses all summer but get a bit of a breather in September. An Indian summer is an added bonus!
