What we love

A note from the current owner... Our house in the Quercy has been an important part of my family for over thirty years. There is a sensation of utter peace, tranquility and safety. When you arrive it is difficult to leave. Maybe it has something to do with the views go on forever or the fact that for centuries the lands were used to grow walnuts. Even today one finds the small glass bottles used to store the harvested walnut oil. We will miss spending time there. It has been a much-loved home and we hope whoever is fortunate enough to own it will derive the same pleasure and happiness.

Overview

A unique country property, first time on the market in 30 years!

Interior and Garden

Substantial, stone maison de maître with second stone house, situated at the end of its own private drive, set in four hectares of gardens and woodland with no close neighbours.

The main house, which has been tastefully decorated and updated by its current owners, has new wooden double-glazed windows and doors, as well as retaining numerous period features with exposed stone and beamed ceilings, wooden panelling in the hallway and terracotta flooring throughout the ground floor.  Log burning stoves in the sitting and dining rooms provide heating for the seasons when it’s not cold enough to use the gas central heating.  There are also large, vaulted cellars for wine and log storage.

Second stone house in excellent structural order with double glazing, now requiring total internal renovation to create gîte or ideal extra family accommodation.

Charming gardens with spectacular views over the surrounding countryside, with ancient woodlands, home to deer, wild boar and other wildlife and also wild cepe.  An 11 x 6m swimming pool with terracotta terracing, and small stone outbuilding and well, all set in a charming private location with no near neighbours, a ten-minute drive to towns and villages with all amenities.

The Area

In a coveted area, near Lauzerte and Montcuq, two vibrant towns with an international community. Lauzerte is listed among the most beautiful villages of France, a stopping point on the Camino de Compostela and has a year-round programme of cultural, art and music events.  Toulouse airport is 1 hour away, Bergerac 45 minutes and Agen 30 minutes.
